Clinton O. Burd

March 20, 1926 — May 1, 2020

Hopewell Township, Clinton O Burd, 94, died on May 1 at his home. He was born in Pennington (Hopewell Township) in 1926. He had worked at Clearview Farm and Pleasant Run Farm before being employed by the Mercer County Workhouse Farm where he advanced to Head Herdsman/Dairyman. He retired as foreman and greenskeeper for the golf courses of Mercer County Park Commission and as the Chief Snowmaker at the Belle Mountain Ski Area in 1988.

He retired to Frankford, DE in 1988 and returned to Titusville in 2014.

Clinton enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, clamming, cooking, tinkering and going to yard sales, and flea markets.

He was a long time member of the Titusville United Methodist Church, and a former member of the Millville Delaware United Methodist Church.

He is predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Ruth S. Burd, his son William R. Burd, his parents Fred B. Burd Sr and Mabel I Burd, and his siblings Marjorie Gulick, Doris Thornton, Olive VanDyke, Hazel VanNess, Ellsworth, Fred Jr., Donald, Joseph, Henry, Edgar, and his twin brother Carl Burd.

He is survived by his son and daughter in law, James C and Debra Burd of Titusville. His daughter in law Sharon Burd, of Titusville. His grandchildren Erick and Stacey Burd, and Matthew Burd, of Titusville. His great grandchildren Julianna, Benjamin, Kaitlin, and Adam Burd. He is also survived by his caretaker and friend Gloria Orantes, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at a time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Titusville United Methodist Church, 7 Church Road, Titusville, NJ 08560 or the Millville United Methodist Church, 36405 Club House Road, Millville, DE 19967-6972.
