Obituary for Elizabeth DOLLY Boyd

Pennington. Dolly Boyd, of Pennington died at her home on Monday after a long illness. Born in Camden in 1917, she had been a resident of Pennington for over 60 years. After high school, she worked for Samuel Langston Paper Machine Co. in Philadelphia until war and marriage took her into military offices in Washington, DC, and Memphis, TN. Moving with her husband, Wayne, and her new-born son, Timothy, to Pennington in 1949, she joined the Pennington United Methodist Church, where she also served as secretary for over 30 years and where she taught Sunday School for many years, as well. Wife of the late Wayne S. Boyd, and sister of the late Jane Brashear, she is survived by her son, Timothy and his wife Carolyn Higbie of Lockport, NY , a niece, Jane Mrowczenski of Mullica Hill and a nephew and his wife, Bob and Marylou Brashear of Berlin, her grandchildren, Elspeth and Alisdair of Lockport, NY; her devoted care-givers, Emmanuel and Monica Asare, and their son, Ezra. One of the last of the old-fashioned envelope and stamp correspondents, Dolly kept up a busy traffic in letters, birthday cards, and small checks to even smaller charities. As a lover of words, she was a passionate crossword puzzle solver and, as a lover of writing, she amassed a collection of pens and old typewriters. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 60 S. Main St., Pennington with the Rev.Daniel Casselberry , pastor and the Rev. James Biggs, co-officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Memorial Park, Pennsauken. Friends may call at the Blackwell Memorial Home, 21 N. Main St., Pennington from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church , Pennington. For
