Hopewell Township, NJ Ernest Everett "Ev" Campbell, Jr. died Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Compassionate Care Hospice, Trenton, New Jersey. Although he asked that his obituary only read "I told you I was sick." Ev enjoyed reading the obits and was witty and intelligent so here goes. Born in Jamesburg, New Jersey to Ernest Everett and Mary Groendyke Campbell on September 22, 1923, Ev attended The College of Wooster, Ohio until he joined the Army during WWII. He was stationed in Avon, Connecticut where he worked to rehabilitate servicemen who were blinded during combat. For many years, he owned The Thorne Pharmacy in Princeton. During this time he also served as a commissioner on the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy under Governor William Cahill. Living for many years in Rocky Hill, Ev could be heard every Fourth of July playing John Phillips Sousa loud enough to create a patriot out of anyone withIn earshot of the town. Later, he and his wife moved to New Bern, North Carolina where they spent ten years together, enjoying the good life. After Jane's death in 2000, Ev moved home to be close to his family again. He spent his remaining years in Rossmoor before moving in with his daughter and her family. Ev enjoyed watching the Weather Channel and could be found in front of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, at 7:00 p.m. every weeknight. He was an avid newspaper and auto magazine reader and was able to tell you about current events or the latest car model. Husband of the late Jane A. Campbell, Ev is survived by a son; Ernest Everett "Rett" Campbell III, of Ewingville, N.J. and a daughter, Elizabeth C. Berkowitz and her husband, Marvin, of Hopewell Township, N.J.
