Joseph Andrew Logan, III Pennington. Joseph A. Logan, III, 86, died at his home on Thursday, October 3. Born in Savannah, Georgia, he had been a resident of Lawrenceville and Pennington for 32 years. Joe Logan loved his family and his church; he was delighted to call himself a "gentleman farmer," and welcomed a tremendous number of friends, relatives and animals into his generous and remarkable life. Joe Logan was an active member of St. James Church, serving as a lector, Eucharistic minister, and (unofficial) welcoming committee to numerous Catholics as they joined the St. James community. Joe and his wife, Martha were active in the Prison Ministry at Trenton State Prison. Joe was also actively involved with The Lawrence Historical Society, and established the Annual Hogmanay Celebration at the Brearley House. He was Fire Master of the event for more than 10 years. Other community involvement included serving as a member of the Hopewell Valley Historical Society; lifelong member of the Hibernian Society of Savannah, GA; and former member of the Fox River Valley Hunt Club in Barrington, IL. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America. Joe graduated from Benedictine High School in Savannah, and attended Armstrong College. He graduated from Emory University in Atlanta GA. He served as an officer in the US Coast Guard. Following his service, he joined Bowater Corp which became Abitibi-Price as a newsprint salesman for his entire career. Joe Logan is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Martha Logan, and four children and their families: Maggie and her husband, Houston Landis, and their three children, Christopher, Devon and Jessica; Helen and her husband, Tom Ledwith; Patrick and his life partner Kamie DeMille; and Matthew and his wife, Margaret Reed, and their two sons, Andy and Luke. Joe was also the father of the late Lt Joseph Andrew "Andy" Logan IV. In addition he is survived by his brother Dr. J. Robert & wife Ginger Logan of Savannah, GA; brother William G. & wife Marty Logan of Miami, FL; and sister Marie Lerch of Baltimore, MD along with their families. There are many cousins, nieces, nephews and additional relatives who will also miss him dearly. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. James Church, 115 E. Delaware Ave, Pennington on Tuesday, October 8, at 10:00 a.m. Friends may call Monday evening from 5:00 -8:00 pm at 379 Pennington-Titusville Road, Pennington. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
