Obituary for Mary Louise Lauricella

Mary Lou (Carlen) Lauricella, 84, passed away at home with her family by her side on April 25, 2022.

Mary Lou was predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Ann Carlen, her sisters Margaret Van Sant and Rita Eldridge, and most recently her husband and best friend of 65 years, Carl, who passed away on August 16, 2021. She is survived by her children, Daniel of Ewing NJ, Louise Ann of Orange City FL, Carl J. Jr. (Donna) of Pennington NJ, Ronald of Ewing NJ, Kevin (Suzanne) of Hopewell Township NJ, and Janine (Matthew) Sherman of Gainesville FL; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 16 nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou was born in Lawrence Twp. NJ and moved to Pennington in 1940, attending Villa Victoria Academy and graduating from Central High School of Hopewell Township in 1955.

Mary Lou was a secretary for New Jersey Manufacturers prior to having children and Princeton University when her children were of school age, retiring when she and Carl moved to Palm Coast FL in 1986.

Mary Lou has a beautiful voice, singing in the St. James Choir for many years starting at the age of 10. She was the school dance band vocalist her senior year, selected by her school mates by auditioning behind a curtain. Mary Lou was in a band called the Star Dusters that performed at local dances and a member of the Mercer County Chorus under the direction of Bud Mulder as well as their select ensemble with her sister Margaret. Painting with watercolors and oils earned Mary Lou a scholarship to Villa Victoria Academy and it was a hobby she enjoyed for many years. Mary Lou enjoyed traveling through all of the 50 United States, Europe, and going to Disney World in FL as much as possible. In her later years, she enjoyed quilting, making over 20 quilts for family and friends.

Mary Lou's sense of humor, zest for life, and caring nature will be sorely missed. All services will be held privately for the family.
