Peter L Cerenzo Jr, 90, of Pennington passed away November 29, 2019. Mr. Cerenzo was born in Trenton, NJ. He was a lifelong area resident.
He graduated from Trenton Central High School, received an AS from Mercer County Community College, and attended Rutgers University. He served two years in the US Army in Germany. He spent his first career at the State of New Jersey Dept. of Transportation as a mechanical engineer. Upon retiring he began a second career at CWA Local #1032 where he was elected president and served in that post until he fully retired. Pete was an accomplished saxophone & clarinet player and the leader of his TCHS band. As a teenager he often traveled to New York where he studied under Joe Allard, a professor of music at Juilliard. He loved to travel with his beloved late wife Dolores and his family. Pete was also very skilled in all the trades, building his family home in Ewing, NJ.
Son of the late Peter J and Anna Cerenzo, husband of the late Dolores Cerenzo, father of the late Dr Peter Cerenzo, he is survived by his daughter Charmaine and son in law Kevin Murphy, five grandchildren Ashleigh, Brendan, Oliver, Corinne, & Peter, a great grandchild Morgan, two sisters and brother in laws Catherine & Joseph Vitella and Joanne & Dr Donald Coppola, a sister in law and brother in law, Sylvia & Frank Guidotti, a brother Robert Cerenzio, and many nephews and a niece.
A private funeral is being held at St James Church in Pennington. Arrangements are under the direction of Blackwell Memorial Home, 21 North Main Street, Pennington, NJ 08534 (609)737-2900. Donations in Pete’s name may be made to his favorite charity St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
