Obituary - Yngvar (Sig) Haslestad Yngvar (Sig) Haslestad, Holland, PA, passed into God's arms June 22nd, surrounded by the love of his family. Born August 28, 1922 in Lyngor, Norway, he immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of eight. The family settled in Elizabeth, New Jersey. His love of film took him to work in the small village of Griggstown. While working there, he met the love of his life, Elizabeth Holmes who was visiting New Jersey from her home in Canada as part of her nursing training. They were married in 1953 and made Griggstown their home for the next 35 years. He worked in the computer programming field with Federal Steel and Crestline in New York, NY and Raritan, NJ until he and his wife retired to Venice, FL in 1987. He was involved with the Griggstown Reformed Church through their church leadership and, one of his greatest loves, the church choir. He was a proud 65 year member of the AzureMasada Free and Accepted Masons, Cranford, NJ. Son of the late Kristian and Signa (Hubertz) Haslestad, he was pre-deceased by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Holmes Haslestad. He is survived by a brother, Ole Peder Haslestad of Seattle, WA; a sister, Arna Haslestad Barnett of Venice, FL and a sister-in-law, Lois Holmes Kenneth of Burlington, Ontario, Canada; four daughters, Randi Haslestad (Mike), Karen O'Sullivan (Shawn), Judi Oley (Roger), Kristine Burns (Tom) and one son, Wm. Peder Haslestad (Maryann). He was Bestefar to seven grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer) and Kevin O'Sullivan, Alexandra Stephan (Bryan) and Elizabeth Oley and Sarah Soisson (Drew), Natalie and Sam Burns. He enjoyed the love and energy of his three great grandsons - Mason, Gavin and Sammy. He also leaves two nephews in Canada, Bill and Roy Holmes; cousins in Norway and many friends at Twining Village. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to support his daughter Karen O'Sullivan and her "Dance with Life" team, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, with checks payable to the American Cancer Society c/o 607 Fort Sumpter Lane, Collierville, TN 38017 Services will be private.
