Betty Jane Giambattista
July 17, 1930 – July 3, 2022

Betty Jane (Kearney) Giambattista was born on July 17, 1930 in upstate New York and raised in Hopewell, New Jersey. In 1951, Betty married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Giambattista from Pennington, NJ and moved to Long Island, NY. She spent the next several years taking care of her growing family and helping Robert in his educational career. Her husband always said that Betty made it possible for him to fulfill his many duties as a teacher and principal because of her wonderful care of their children and their home. In 1976, Betty returned to working outside of the home for the Suffolk County Board of Elections. Not only did she enjoy serving the public in this critical work for 34 years, but she took great pride in being part of a wonderful group of dedicated public servants who she greatly respected and loved.

Betty’s ultimate joy was spending time with her husband and with her family and friends. She and Robert relished their car rides throughout Long Island, walking through the picturesque towns and along the water fronts and parks always holding hands and their visits with family and friends on Long Island and throughout the United States. She and Robert enjoyed eating out at several favorite dining places where they loved talking and laughing with the restaurant staff and owners who became like family to them. She also valued the quiet times when she and Robert would spend hours talking or reading whether inside their home or outside on their deck enjoying the beautiful outside spaces around their home that Robert had worked so hard creating and maintaining.

Betty Jane is predeceased by Robert, her husband of almost 70 years; her beloved parents, Frances and Jack; her beloved daughter, Lise; her amazing son-in-laws Kris and Buddy and her wonderful in-laws and special family members whom she dearly loved.

She is survived by her beloved brother and sister-in-law Walt and Peggy; her four children who gave her much joy, Kathy, Robin, Scott and his wife, Amy, and the youngest Kerry; her wonderful grandchildren Kira and her fiancé, Dan; Brian and his wife, Amanda; Danny; and Emily Rose and Jamie; her beautiful great granddaughters, Stella and Avery and her many nieces and nephews and their families who always brought a smile, a laugh and much comfort to her life.

Betty spent 2022 living in Virginia with her daughter, Kathy. Her family is very grateful for all the medical professionals who looked after her throughout her years in New York and those who cared for her during her time in Virginia. They want to thank the staff and administration at Virginia Kares Home Care Services; Heritage Hall Laurel Meadows assisted living facility and Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care for their outstanding care and loving support to Betty and her family during her very critical time of need.

Betty always felt she was blessed by God for so many reasons and did all she could to share these blessings by helping others. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that if possible; please make a donation to your favorite charity. Visitation will be held 10:00AM Monday July 18, 2022 at St. James’ Church, Delaware Ave., Pennington, NJ with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00AM.
