Czeslaw (Chester) Kobrzynski, 83, of Manchester, NJ, passed away on May 9th, 2026. Born on October 21, 1942, in Myszyniec, Poland, to the late Czeslaw and Stefania Kobrzynski, Chester eventually left his native Poland to build a vibrant life for his family in the United States.
A Legacy of Hard Work and Vision
A man of immense drive and vision, Chester was instrumental in helping extended family emigrate from Poland to America, providing them with a bridge to new opportunities. He took great pride in his independence, establishing himself as the owner and operator of his own business, CK Trucking.
Together with his beloved wife, Cecylia, to whom he was married for 57 years, he modeled an extraordinary work ethic. Their tireless efforts laid a firm foundation for their three children, instilling in them the values of integrity and the importance of education. From their beginnings as immigrants to building a life in New Jersey, they fostered deep roots and lasting friendships within the Polish-American community-starting in South River, moving to East Brunswick, and finally settling in Manchester.
Personality and Hobbies
Chester was best known for his caring and friendly personality, paired with a sharp, witty sense of humor and an infectious laugh. He cherished time spent with family and friends and was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in fishing, boating, camping, windsurfing, skiing, and swimming. When he wasn't on the water or the slopes, he could often be found immersed in his love of history and historical reading.
To many of his nephews and his children's friends, he was a 'second dad'-a man they looked up to and turned to for guidance. His legacy lives on in the success and character of the family he so proudly built. One of his famous lines, shared during his many travels across the United States, his journeys abroad, and his numerous fishing trips, was 'Po ten trip!'-a joyful Polish toast meaning, 'Cheers to this trip!' It was a fitting tribute to his adventurous spirit and his love for the journey.
Family
Chester is survived by his devoted wife, Cecylia; his children, Robert and his wife Christine, Diane, and Jack and his wife Izabela; and his cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Lukas, Jaxon, and Kyle. He is also survived by his sisters, Basia and Bogusia, and his brother, Bogdan and wife Maryla. He was preceded in death by his parents, Czeslaw and Stefania, and his brother, Mietek (Mitch).
A Mass will be held on Friday, May 15th at 10 am at St. Mary of Ostrabrama, South River, NJ with interment to follow at the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery in Doylestown, PA.
In honor of Chester's legacy, please consider a donation to Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing. As our Dad was a lifelong outdoorsman, this organization holds a special connection for our family; they focus on the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active-duty military personnel and veterans through fly-fishing and associated activities. https://projecthealingwaters.org/
