Elaine Dykas, age 81, passed away peacefully at home on May 9, 2025 surrounded by family.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Elaine moved to Rockaway, NJ in 1967, before moving to Pennington, NJ in 1984.

Mrs. Dykas was the first woman ever elected to the Rockaway Boro Council. She served as Police Commissioner for two years, liason to the Board of Education and the Planning Board.

Elaine worked with stained glass for fun and profit. She taught the non-credit craft for two years at Morris County College. Elaine also knitted, sewed and painted in the American Country style for fun and profit. She made handmade jewelry from semiprecious stone beads and enjoyed selling them at Rice's Flea Market.

Elaine loved her New York Mets. The team will miss her shout outs at the TV while wearing her best Mets cap.

Daughter of the late Helen and Octave Westbrook, sister of the late Frances Westbrook Auld, Robert F. Westbrook, and Octave Westbrook Jr.

Elaine is survived by her loving husband Lawrence Dykas Jr. of 51 years. A dedicated Mom and Grandmother, she is survived by her children, Bonnie Lynn Haar of Oxford, NJ and her grandchildren Steven Haar, Mackenzie Haar, and Connor Haar and his wife Samantha of Allamuchy, NJ, and Scott T. Hults of Croydon, PA and his daughter Amy Hults of Macungie, PA.

Elaine is survived by 6 nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She is also survived by many wonderful and loving friends of Bill W. for the past 42 years.

Friends may call on May 15th 2025 at the Blackwell Funeral Home, North Main Street, Pennington, NJ at 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Burial will be private.
