Frank Scymanski, of East Windsor, NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 15.
Born in Trenton, NJ, he was a resident of Ewing for 38 years before moving to Allentown and then East Windsor. He was a graduate of Trenton Central High School & Trenton Junior College. He received a BS degree from Lafayette College and a MS degree from Newark College of Engineering, both in Civil Engineering.
Frank retired with 40 years of service as the Chief, Bureau of Roadway Design Standards and Engineering Services from the New Jersey Department of Transportation. After retiring from the NJDOT, he worked as a consultant for Michael Baker Engineering and Medina Engineering. He was a Professional Engineer and served on the New Jersey State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
Frank was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving duty on the Blimp Squadron at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station, NJ and at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, during the Berlin crisis.
Frank coached his children’s sports teams when they were young. He enjoyed playing tennis and was the USTA/Volvo Tennis League 1988 District Champion. He was a jack-of-all-trades, enjoying working on his house and gardening. He loved to travel domestically and abroad with family and friends.
He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ewing and then later at the Allentown Presbyterian Church.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Helen, and his stepfather Harvey Lucas. Frank is survived by a loving family, his wife, Judith, a daughter, Diane (Mark), a son, David (Lynne) & three grandchildren, Sarah (Carlo), Shane & Michaela.
Visitation begins at 10:30 am, Monday, June 17th at the Allentown Presbyterian Church, Allentown, N.J. with a service to follow starting at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Frank’s name to the Veteran’s charity of your choice.
