John A Lucky

Our beloved father, John A. Lucky, 78, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023 surrounded by his family.

John was born on March 17, 1945 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ.
John was a lifelong Trenton resident growing up on a farm. Not only did he help on the family farm, he worked in his father's auto body shop, eventually taking over as owner/partner with his brother, Allen Lucky, of Lucky's Auto Body and Repair in Trenton, NJ after his father's passing. John was a student athlete while attending Steinert HS excelling in football and track and field.  After graduation, John was a free spirit, eventually meeting Cheryl P. Lucky. They enjoyed 40 years of marriage. Despite it ending, they remained friends. John was well known and respected by many and the community.  John made friends with everyone and was willing to help anyone in need.  John sponsored softball and little league teams in the city of Trenton through his business. John also taught auto body repair night school for students at Trenton Central HS.  John enjoyed many pastimes: hunting, fishing, boating, NASCAR, motorcycles, sporting events, camping, Philadelphia Flower Show, live music, and spending time with his grandchildren.  John was always up for trying something new whether it be food or experiences.

John was predeceased by his parents, Zalton J. Lucky, Pvt US Army WWII and Mary T. (Barnacz) Lucky, and sister Loretta A. Lucky all of Trenton, NJ. He is survived by his daughters, Lori A. Lucky, 55, Hamilton, NJ, Candace M. Lucky, 48, Brick, NJ, and Penelope T. Malysk, 48, Hamilton Sq, NJ and brothers Zalton Lucky, Los Angeles, CA, and Allen Lucky, Hamilton, NJ. He is also survived by nephews Jason Lucky, CA and Shawn Lucky, MO, nieces Paige La Couture, TX,  Laura Lucky, UT, Jill White, CO and grandchildren Anthony Miele, Brittany Jones, and Alessandra and Nicholas Malyska all from NJ.  

Viewing hours will be 5:00-7:00 pm at Hartmann Funeral Home, 2830 Nottingham Way, Hamilton, NJ 08619 on Sunday, July 9.2023.  Funeral will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, July 10, 2023 at Hartmann Funeral Home. A Catholic service will be held at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery in Trenton, NJ.

A Celebration of Life party will be held at the VFW Post 491, 9 Fisher Place, Yardville, NJ 08620 from 1:00 - 5:00 pm. on Sunday, July 16, 2023.  There will be lunch and live music, wear your party pants!
