Kevork Kalayjian

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kevork George Kalayjian, a beloved husband, father, and friend, who left us peacefully on April 19, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on March 3, 1934, in Istanbul, Turkey, he journeyed to the US in 1971 settling in Hopewell/Pennington for over 50 years.

Kevork dedicated much of his life to his craft as a custom tailor, bringing precision and artistry to his work in the clothing industry. His hands, skilled and steady, created garments that not only dressed his clients but also told stories of care and dedication. He took great pride in his profession, believing that every stitch was an expression of love.

He absolutely loved having family over every Sunday for dinner and laughter, as a tremendous Backgammon player, he wouldn’t back down from a challenge. Summertime, He loved gardening, spending time in the pool and laying on the hammock after a long day.

Mr. Kalayjian was a member of St. Stepanos Armenian Church in Long Branch, NJ.

Predeceased by his parents, Gazer and Verjin Kalayjian; his siblings, Antranik Kalayjian, Artaki Kalayjian, Agavni Cicek.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Arpine Kalayjian; His children Aret Kalayjian and Jilber (Michelle) Kalayjian, grandchildren; Gabrielle, Shawn and Sophia along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are pending. Followed by a burial at Harbourton Cemetery located at 1516 Harbourton-Rocktown Rd, Lambertville, NJ 08530. Clergy from St. Stepanos Armenian Church will officiate.
