Muriel H. MacInnes, 93, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026. She was born on May 12, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York. She was the daughter of Elinore and Richard Jouaneau.
Muriel moved to Union Beach, New Jersey during her senior year of high school, where she would go on to build a life rooted in family, community, and dedication. She lived in Union Beach for 53 years before relocating to Hamilton, New Jersey, where she spent the past 25 years.
Muriel married her beloved husband, John MacInnes, who passed away in 2022, after celebrating 68 years of marriage. Their marriage was the foundation of a close-knit and loving family.
Muriel was a devoted mother to her four children: John of Old Bridge, NJ; Laurie (Norm) of Lewes, DE; Glenn (Jill) of Orange, CT; and Doug (Esther) of Monroe, NY. She was also a proud grandmother to Jenna, Ellie, and Hannah (Catherine). Muriel is also survived by her sister, Lee Krasko and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving grandson, Thomas J. Latham, her brother, Richard Jouaneau and her sister, Jean Orr.
Prior to her retirement, Muriel was a dedicated schoolteacher who spent her career shaping young minds with patience, kindness, and quiet strength. She will be remembered not only for her commitment to education, but also for the warmth and steadiness she brought to those around her.
Muriel was anchored in faith and found strength in quiet, steadfast prayer. She was a member of Saint Mark United Methodist Church in Hamilton Square, NJ and enjoyed going to Church with her husband, while they were able.
Muriel found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved the music of Johnny Mathis and was a loyal fan of the New Jersey Devils, rarely missing a chance to follow her team. Muriel enjoyed traveling with her husband on cruises and Disney vacations.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to her devoted caregiver, Tammy, whose compassion and dedication over the past two years brought comfort, dignity, and companionship to Muriel. We are also deeply grateful for the care Teresa and Lisa provided for our mother.
Above all, Muriel will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her enduring strength, and the life she built alongside those she loved.
She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 16th, from 11:00am until 11:30am, with a funeral service beginning at 11:30 am, at Saint Mark United Methodist Church, 465 Paxson Avenue, Hamilton Square, NJ. Entombment will be at Fairview Cemetery, 456 Route 35, Middletown, NJ, at 1:15pm, followed by a celebration of life at Molly Pitcher Inn, in Red Bank, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Muriel's memory to Saint Mark United Methodist Church, 465 Paxson Avenue, Hamilton Square, NJ 08690.
