Emblem
Robert Joseph Geiger Sr. 85 of New Hope, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday at Doylestown Hospital Hospice Care.
Born in Newark NJ on March 5, 1937, Mr Geiger was a graduate of St. Benedict’s Prep School in Newark NJ, and Rutgers University.
Bob was a tireless worker whose abundant energy was paired with an entrepreneurial spirit.  In his early twenties, Bob turned his business acumen towards Real Estate financing.  His career began as a mortgage banker for Underwood Mortgage, Franklin Capital corporation and Midlantic bank, before creating his own Mortgage Banking Company.  With his partner Johanna Fellmeth, Bob launched Jefferson National Mortgage Company, a tremendously successful and innovative enterprise brokering capital arrangements between real estate developers and lenders.  Bob was also an outgoing and inventive promoter, cultivating many professional relationships within the real estate development/home builder and Banking industries throughout the tri-state area.

Bob was constantly – and quite literally -  on the go and making things happen.  He loved to drive and explore, averaging 35,000 miles per year from his mid-twenties up to the age of 75, blanketing the Garden State and beyond.  It was during these drives that he did much of his best thinking.

Bob possessed a photographic memory that was particularly impressive when it came to geography. He knew every backroad, every corner, and could rattle off their real estate history.  On his drives, he could—and often did—point out any geographical location in New Jersey with a quick statistical and historical summary.  He also knew every eatery from Cape May to Bergen County, whether it be fine-dining, mom and pop places and, especially, hot dog stands.

As much as Bob loved business, his first love was family.  Bob met Margie Pomerico in the early 1960s and the two started a beautiful sixty year relationship.  They were a pair fused together by love respect and support. They became simply Marge & Bob, then Aunt Marge and Uncle Bob, then mom and dad, and finally Nan and Pop, their two names unfailingly spoken as one. Spending time with family and friends, entertaining was their collective passion. The business successes Bob achieved were truly the product of a combined effort between Marge and Bob.

Bob was a great father, uncle, mentor, friend, employer and outstanding grandfather.  He was always thinking of others and taking time to help wherever he could, not just talk, but hands-on help.

Bob had several pastimes, such as fishing, golf, skiing, but his main passion was simply spending time with others, and in so doing enriched their lives.  I guess you could say conversation was his favorite hobby.

He is the son of the late Alice Evers and Alois Geiger, brother to the late Richard "Dick" Geiger.  He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty years, Margaret Rose Geiger, son Robert Geiger, Jr, daughter in law Nell Geiger and Daughter Allyson C. Allen, and five grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher, Polly, Nathaniel and Elizabeth and sister, Shirley Ruane.
