Thomas Mooney, Jr.

Lawrenceville. Thomas Mooney, Jr., passed away at his home in Lawrenceville on Sunday, June 1, 2014. Born in Trenton, he was a resident of Pennington for well over 40 years, with 12 years spent in Lawrenceville in the home where his two children were born and raised. He graduated from Hopewell Valley Central High School in 1972 as a member of the National Honor Society and Ursinus College in 1976 with a B.S. in Economics. At the time of his death he was a Sales Consultant for Miller Energy, Inc. in South Plainfield, NJ; but worked most of his career in Sales at the Truesdell Company in Skillman, NJ. Tom was a long-time choir member, member of All-State Chorus, and an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed gardening, bicycling, hiking, fishing, and spending time in the outdoors. He loved animals, especially dogs; but by far his greatest joy was being a devoted father and grandfather. Son of the late Winifred Perry Mooney and Thomas Mooney, Sr.; he is survived by sister, Marion Mooney of Manhattan; son, Samuel Thomas Mooney of Lawrenceville; daughter, Julia Mooney of Pennington; former wife, Cynthia Mooney of Pennington; grandson Jackson Thomas Mooney of Pennington; as well as aunts and numerous cousins. A Memorial Service celebrating Tom's life will be held on Saturday June 7th at the Blackwell Memorial Home, 21 N. Main St., Pennington. Friends may call from 9am-11am. The service will be held from 11am-12pm with a luncheon immediately following at The Pennington Fire Company, 120 Broemel Pl, Pennington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to either The American Cancer Society or The March of Dimes.
